Concept and idea by
1999Q

Radioarctica project explores the life of the Northern regions and people living in this area. Developing the concept of the Nordic identity, we are sure that our geographical neighborhood and unique history have a common ideology among the peoples of several countries living in the North.

Murmansk based artist 1999Q and alternative journalist Zhanna Guzenko are stayed at BAC (Baltic Art Center) in October 2015. During their residency they conceptualized the structure of an online sound and visual streaming from Gotland (SE) aiming to give a voice to the ethnically diverse region and multilingual communities and stimulate them to share their opinions and experiences, thus providing a unique media voice for the North.

In 2018 artists continued to develop Radioarctica project with support from the Nordic Council of Ministers and made art expedition to several countries in the Barents region like Norway, Finland and Russia. Natural beauty, fragile uniqueness and harsh Arctic environment surround the speakers, allowing to follow the storytellers and immerse into their "choice of living in the North".
